Tinker with abandon
You have the ability to change the world. But it’s probably not going to be with your next big idea unless you tinker with abandon along the way.
If you’re going to tinker (and you should!), be prolific.
Move fast. Ideate. Experiment. Don’t get attached to your ideas too early.
Learn. Treat every idea as a hypothesis or experiment. Build throw-away prototypes. Throw away more than you keep.
Have fun. Go wild. Try something you think won’t work. Try ten things you think won’t work.
Observe. Gather data. Reflect. Reorient. Rinse-and-repeat.
Learn to fail. Learn from the failures. Fail quickly.
Your next idea is not going to be “the next big thing”. Neither is the idea after it. Or the one after that.
But, the combined learnings and what’s left after you’ve tinkered and experimented and thrown away more than you kept just might be something useful—that you can share and that others will want to use and keep using.
