Building an experimental Zapier-powered Shopify chatbot in Slack

I've recently been experimenting with building a simple Shopify chatbot in Slack using Zapier and Google search.

The purpose is to reduce distractions across the team by surfacing answers to simple Shopify questions instantly.

It uses Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" results to find Shopify help articles that fit a user's question. If no single article found, it displays the search results from Shopify's help docs.

It watches all public channels and doesn't require @-mentioning the bot so should surface answers any time a Shopify-related question is asked - even if the question is directed at another Slack user.

The goal here is to maybe answer the question before the other person even needs to respond - thus reducing distractions.

Fun! I'm quite surprised by what we've been able to achieve in a short amount of time with basic tools.

I can't wait to see where we could take this. Keen to see what might happen if we integrated it with the Intercom chat on https://lucid.nzand/or on our Facebook page.

Anyone else dabbling with this stuff? Any tips or tricks you've come up with?
